"Elegant Earrings"
Crochet these earrings in no time! If you love crochet, these projects are fast and easy make the perfect gift for the holidays. This year, make all your gifts, and let this be the one for all the moms and daughters you know. Thank you Linda Permann for this yet another Living Crafts classic. The yarn selected has stainless steel mixed in the fiber to allow the earrings to hold their own. The designs are truly unique and match any casual or formal outfit. The photo shoot took place in San Juan Capistrano Mission, the oldest mission in Southern California, a majestic site, to match the earrings.
"Ornament Exchange"
These beautiful, all-natural ornaments are wonderful gifts to give to yourself and your loved ones. The article is the story of how twelve women from across the U.S. and Canada came together to collaborate and each design an ornament that had a special meaning for them, and to share it with the others in the tribe. Each was in charge of creating a one-of-a-kind piece, five of which are featured in this issue, and the rest, will be featured online as a 12 Days of Christmas special on the editor’s blog. They coordinated through email and mail, shared patterns and ideas, and worked on what would become many heirloom pieces for each of them. Living Crafts will provide you with the step-by-step instructions, you do the rest; make it for your loved ones, on your own or within your tribe of crafters.
"Silk Angel Mobile"
Everyone needs an angel. This silk angel can be made for a child on its own or as part of this beautiful mobile designed by Truth Almond, a master doll maker and early childhood educator. You can decorate your house for the holidays, or hang in a child’s room to look after your children. The photos don’t quite do justice for the magical presence of this mobile. You can make the wreath with raffia, willow or grapevine branches. Pattern allows you to make it in different sizes.
"Child’s Wool Jacket"
Designed by Tara Jon Manning, this beautiful jacket is worked up on large needles, it is quick to knit and will chase away the chill. The cables grow out of stockinette stitch panels defined by simple seed stitch. The sleeves are worked top down in stockinette panels to echo the main body and allow for minimal seaming. A playful Mandarin style collar and 3/4 length button placket in seed stitch pull it all together and add a funky touch. Think about making it a little bit big – because our little ones also grow so quickly, like vines on a fence.
