Cedar boughs look great…hostas perhaps?
I’ve done this with ivy, which is a very nice effect. I bet rosemary would be a good choice as well.
We make stones that will not be stepped on with bare feet out of old broken pottery, using a similar technique. Grandma handles the shards, of course!
